State prosecutor Omar Faruk stated that Nusrat Faria was granted bail pending the submission of the police report. According to the investigating officer’s report, Nusrat was in Canada during the time of the alleged incident (July 9–14, 2024), and no specific evidence of her involvement has been found so far.
The report further noted that after her arrest, Nusrat was initially questioned at the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) office. A review of her passport confirmed that she was abroad during the incident. The investigation into the case is still ongoing.
Earlier, on Sunday (May 18), Nusrat was detained by immigration police at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport while attempting to travel to Thailand. She was handed over to Bhatara Police Station and later taken to the DB office on Minto Road for questioning. On Monday (May 19), a court ordered her imprisonment. The full bail hearing is scheduled for Thursday (May 22).
