Dhaka, May 20, 2025: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged that a well-orchestrated conspiracy is underway to postpone the national election. He claimed that efforts are being made to deprive the people of their voting rights and fundamental freedoms.
He made these remarks during a joint meeting held at the Engineers’ Institution in the capital on Tuesday (May 20) via video conference, organized to plan programs marking the 44th martyrdom anniversary of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman.
Mirza Fakhrul further accused a certain group of initiating divisive politics and conspiring to tarnish the reputation of various government institutions. He stated that infiltrators within the government are working to destabilize the country. Urging BNP leaders and activists to remain vigilant, he also called for caution against conspiracies originating from across the border.
To commemorate Ziaur Rahman’s martyrdom anniversary, BNP has announced an 8-day program starting from May 25. The schedule includes youth rallies in Dhaka on May 27 and 28. A discussion meeting will be held at the Engineers’ Institution on May 29 at 3:00 PM, with no other programs planned for these two days. On May 30, party leaders and activists will pay their respects at Ziaur Rahman’s mausoleum.
