India-Pakistan Confirm Ceasefire Agreement

International Desk, May 10, 2025: India and Pakistan have confirmed a ceasefire agreement following four days of intense cross-border attacks, brokered through U.S. mediation. U.S. President Donald Trump announced the ceasefire in a post on the social media platform X on Saturday, marking an end to hostilities between the two rival neighbors.

Shortly after Trump’s announcement, both India and Pakistan officially confirmed the implementation of the ceasefire. The Indian government stated that, starting at 5:00 PM local time on Saturday, its army, air force, and navy have ceased all firing toward Pakistan. India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri revealed that at 3:35 PM Indian time, Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) contacted his Indian counterpart. During their discussion, both sides agreed to halt all forms of firing, shelling, and military operations across land, air, and sea starting at 5:00 PM local time on Saturday.
Authorities in both nations have issued immediate directives to their respective forces to enforce the ceasefire. Additionally, the DGMOs of India and Pakistan are scheduled to hold a detailed discussion via telephone on Monday, May 12, at around 12:00 PM to further address the matter.
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed that both countries have agreed to an immediate ceasefire. In a statement, Dar emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to fostering peace and security in the region while underscoring that the country has never compromised on its sovereignty or territorial integrity.
Earlier, President Trump had posted on X, stating that India and Pakistan had agreed to the ceasefire. In an interview with Pakistan’s private television channel Geo News, Ishaq Dar reiterated, “War is not a solution for anything. The ceasefire has been effective since 4:30 PM today (Pakistan time).”
