Novoair Suspends Flight Operations Temporarily from May 2, 2025

Dhaka, May 2, 2025 – Novoair, a private airline in Bangladesh, has temporarily suspended its flight operations starting Friday, May 2, 2025, according to sources from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB). The airline has informed CAAB that it plans to resume operations within two weeks, though no specific timeline has been confirmed by Novoair officials.

A reliable source from Novoair disclosed that the suspension is linked to the airline’s ongoing efforts to sell its fleet of five ATR aircraft. As part of the sale process, representatives from a potential buyer are scheduled to inspect the aircraft, necessitating the temporary halt in flight operations. However, Novoair has not clarified how long the suspension will last.
Attempts to contact Novoair’s Managing Director, Mofizur Rahman, and other senior officials for further details were unsuccessful.
This is not the first instance of operational disruptions for Novoair this year. On April 20, 2025, the airline abruptly stopped ticket sales, sparking rumors of a potential shutdown. Although ticket sales resumed shortly after, dispelling the rumors, Novoair halted sales again just ten days later.
Prior to the suspension, Novoair operated daily domestic flights from Dhaka to Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Sylhet, Jashore, Saidpur, and Rajshahi. The airline had also suspended its sole international route to Kolkata in September 2024 due to a shortage of passengers.
Previously, Novoair announced plans to sell its current fleet and acquire mid-sized aircraft, including Airbus models, to expand international operations. However, the airline has been unable to proceed with these plans due to a lack of investors.
The sudden suspension has raised concerns among passengers and industry observers, with many questioning the airline’s financial stability and future prospects.
