Dhaka, June 19, 2025: A group of 123 distressed Bangladeshi citizens are returning home from Tripoli, Libya, with the assistance of the Bangladesh Embassy in Libya, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The migrants are scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Thursday, June 19, at 9:30 AM.
The group departed from Tripoli’s Mitiga International Airport on Wednesday, June 18, at 6:25 PM local time aboard a special flight operated by Burak Air. According to a statement from the Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli, this repatriation effort was made possible through the embassy’s continuous initiatives and support from the IOM.
The repatriated individuals were residing irregularly in Tripoli and surrounding areas, with 23 of them reported to be physically unwell. Most lacked valid passports or legal documentation, posing significant challenges in securing new passports or outpasses and obtaining exit visas (khuruj).
