The interrogation began around 12:30 AM on Sunday (June 1, 2025) at Paira Chattar in the city. Around 1:30 AM, Sarjis Alam, chief organizer (northern region) of the National Citizen Party (NCP), arrived at the scene and is currently in discussion with Brigadier General Humayun Kaiyum, commander of the 72 Infantry Brigade.

Earlier that day, the two student leaders had gone to the Kotwali police station to file a case alleging an attack by Jatiya Party members on Anti-Discrimination Student Movement activists. The army is showing video footage and still images from the incident to identify those involved in the attack on GM Quader’s residence, ‘The Sky View,’ which occurred last Thursday.
At the scene, the army also summoned Shamsuzzaman Samu, convener of the city BNP, Mahfuz Un Nabi Don, member secretary, and Anisur Rahman Laku, district member secretary, to inquire whether their party activists were involved in the attack. Shamsuzzaman Samu stated that one individual was identified from the video footage, adding that organizational action would be taken against any party members found involved in such terrorist activities.
Imtiaz Ahmed Imti told Kalabela that the army contacted them to inquire about their location, and upon learning they were at Paira Chattar, army personnel arrived to interrogate them. The army is using video footage to identify those involved in the attack.
Meanwhile, around 1:00 AM, Sarjis Alam posted on Facebook, stating, “If the accomplices of fascists are not arrested in Rangpur and the comrades of the uprising are harassed, we will meet again on the streets of Rangpur tomorrow.” Earlier, around 11:30 PM, NCP organizer Alamgir Rahman Nayan filed a case application at Kotwali police station against 18 Jatiya Party leaders and activists, including GM Quader and former Rangpur mayor Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa.
