Missile Attack Sirens Sound in Israel from Yemen

International Desk, 03 June, 2025 : Sirens warning of a missile attack echoed across various parts of Israel on Monday. The Israeli military reported that it successfully intercepted a missile launched from Yemen. The interception caused loud explosions in the skies over Jerusalem. According to a statement from the Israeli forces, the missile, originating from Yemen, was neutralized, resulting in no reported damage or casualties.

Yemen’s Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that they targeted Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv. In a video message, the Houthis’ military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, said, “Our missile forces conducted an operation targeting Ben Gurion International Airport in solidarity with the Palestinian people.” The group stated that they had paused attacks during a two-month ceasefire in Gaza in March. However, they resumed their operations after Israel restarted its attacks following the end of the ceasefire.
According to Israeli authorities, since the onset of the Gaza war in October last year, triggered by a Hamas attack, the Houthis have been regularly launching missiles and drones. While most of these attacks have been intercepted, a missile managed to strike near Ben Gurion Airport in May for the first time.
In retaliation, Israel has conducted airstrikes on several locations in Yemen, including the capital, Sanaa, targeting its port and airport areas.
