Shown arrested in five murder cases of terrorist Sajjad's wife

02 June, 2025 : Tamanna Sharmin, wife of notorious terrorist Sajjad Hossain, has been shown arrested in five murder cases related to the anti-discrimination movement in Chattogram’s Chandgaon.

On Monday (June 2, 2025), Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Mostafa issued the order following a police application. Tamanna also faces charges in a double murder case and a death threat case in Bakalia.

Court sources revealed that during the anti-discrimination movement in July-August last year, five individuals—Hriday Chandra Tarua, Md. Mahin, Tanvir Siddiqui, Shahidul Islam, and Fazle Rabbi—were killed in shootings in the Bahaddarhat area under Chandgaon police station. The police applied for Tamanna’s arrest in five separate cases filed over these incidents. According to the police, Tamanna was involved in supplying arms and personnel during attacks and shootings by Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League members during the movement.
Mofiz Uddin, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Prosecution) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police, stated that the court granted the police’s application to show Tamanna arrested in the five murder cases filed at Chandgaon police station. She was initially arrested on May 10 from Bahaddarhat’s Baraipara area.
Earlier, on March 15, Sajjad Hossain was arrested from a shopping mall in Dhaka. The following day, Tamanna went live on Facebook, threatening to secure her husband’s release on bail by spending “stacks of money,” a video that went viral. On March 30, a double murder took place in Bakalia’s Access Road, where two individuals were shot dead after their private car was chased and stopped. Three days later, on April 1, Firoza Begum, mother of one of the victims, Bakhatiyar Uddin Manik, filed a case at Bakalia police station, naming seven individuals, including Tamanna as the second accused. The complaint alleged that the murders were planned by the incarcerated Sajjad and his wife.
