A sit-in protest was held today, starting at 10:20 AM, in front of the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Chairman’s residence in Banani, organized by the "Dhaka-Tha" CNG Auto-Rickshaw Owners and Workers Alliance. Approximately 200-250 CNG auto-rickshaw workers participated, demanding permission for 3,000 CNG auto-rickshaws to operate in Dhaka city and on highways.
Key leaders present at the protest included Md. Rafiq, Convener, Md. Jewel Maltiya, Joint Convener and Md. Alamgir Hossain, Member Secretary of the alliance. They voiced their demands for swift action from BRTA authorities.
According to reports, vehicular movement on the roads remained normal during the protest. Six platoons of police were deployed in the Banani area to ensure security.
