Five Arrested in Comilla’s Muradnagar for Alleged Rape and Video Circulation

On Sunday, June 29, 2025, Comilla’s Superintendent of Police, Nazir Ahmed Khan, confirmed the arrest of five individuals, including the prime suspect, in connection with the alleged rape of a woman in Muradnagar Upazila. The incident involved breaking into the victim’s home.

The primary suspect, Fazr Ali, was apprehended around 5 a.m. in Dhaka’s Sayedabad area. Four others—Md. Sumon, Ramzan Ali, Md. Arif, and Md. Anik, all residents of Baharchar village in Muradnagar—were arrested for allegedly recording and circulating a video of the incident on social media. According to a press release signed by SP Nazir Ahmed Khan on Saturday, June 28, the alleged rape occurred on the night of Thursday, June 26, in Ramchandrapur Panchkitta village. Fazr Ali is accused of raping the wife of an expatriate. After the incident, locals detained and assaulted Fazr Ali, who later fled. Some individuals recorded a video of the victim and shared it on social media. Muradnagar Police Station promptly responded, initiating legal action. Based on the victim’s written complaint, a case was filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. The press release further stated that efforts to bring the perpetrator to justice are ongoing, and the three individuals involved in recording and spreading the video have been arrested. Legal action will be taken against them under applicable laws. On Friday, June 27, the victim filed a rape case at Muradnagar Police Station.
