Dhaka, June 21, 2025: Dhaka Medical College has announced the indefinite suspension of all academic activities and instructed students to vacate the hostels by 12 PM on Sunday, June 22. The decision was made during an emergency meeting of the Academic Council on Saturday, June 21, as stated in a notice signed by the college principal, Professor Dr. Md. Kamrul Alam.
According to the notice, the suspension aims to address the ongoing stalemate at the college. All MBBS students, including those participating in professional MBBS examinations and foreign students, are required to comply with the directive to vacate the hostels.
For the past few weeks, students have been protesting against the hazardous conditions of the college’s residential and academic buildings. On Friday, June 20, they submitted a memorandum with a five-point demand and staged a sit-in at the Milon Chattar.
The college authorities have cited these protests as the backdrop for the decision. Academic activities will remain suspended until the situation stabilizes, as per the notice.
