The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) will remain open on the upcoming Friday and Saturday, despite these being public holidays, to provide all civic services to residents. The decision includes keeping the Nagar Bhaban, regional offices, and all other levels of DSCC offices operational. The announcement was made through a press release issued by DSCC on Tuesday night (June 24).
After a prolonged period of service disruptions, the main gate of Nagar Bhaban was reopened on Monday (June 23), and service activities resumed. However, the ongoing sit-in program by supporters of Ishraq continues.
From May 15 to June 3, all civic services from Nagar Bhaban were halted due to a protest by Ishraq-affiliated employees, who locked the main gate and various departments. After the Eid break, the sit-in resumed on June 15, resulting in the main gate and other departments being locked until the day before yesterday. On Monday (June 23), the locks were finally removed, and services were restored.
This decision by DSCC is seen as a significant step toward ensuring uninterrupted civic services and facilitating residents’ needs.
