Dhaka, June 20, 2025: The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken Md. Iqbal Bahar, a former Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP), into custody. He was detained from a residence in the Bailey Road area of the capital on Friday (June 20) evening.
Iqbal Bahar previously served as the Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP). Later, he was transferred to the Training and Inspection Management (T&IM) at Rajarbag as an Additional IGP. He retired from service in 2019.
According to DB sources, the specific reasons for his detention have not yet been disclosed. However, the incident has sparked discussions in various circles.
