Government Primary School Feeding Program’ is set to commence in 150 selected government primary schools across 62 districts in all eight divisions of Bangladesh. To ensure the smooth implementation of this significant initiative, the Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) has issued urgent directives to collect updated and accurate data from students and relevant officials for the 2025 academic year.
In an office order signed by Project Director and Joint Secretary Mohammad Harun Or Rashid on Sunday, June 22, the DPE instructed all schools under the program to compile and submit student and district/upazila officials’ data in a prescribed format by June 30, 2025. District Primary Education Officers (except those in Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban) have been directed to urgently submit the updated information via email (infogpsfp@dpe.gov.bd) in PDF and MS Excel formats (using Nikoshban font), along with hard copies.
The mega-project, spearheaded by the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and supervised by the DPE, covers 150 upazilas across 62 districts. However, Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban have been excluded due to geographical and other considerations. The DPE has emphasized the responsibility of division, district, and upazila-level officials to ensure timely and accurate data submission. The project director, deputy project director, and assistant project director are closely monitoring the process.
The School Feeding Program is a groundbreaking social initiative aimed at transforming primary education in Bangladesh. Its primary objectives include ensuring regular school attendance, enhancing students’ focus on education, and reducing malnutrition risks, particularly among children from poor and marginalized families. By providing nutritious meals, the program seeks to support the physical and mental development of students while encouraging parents to send their children to school regularly.
Officials are optimistic that this initiative will significantly boost school enrollment and create a positive impact on the education and health of underprivileged children across the country.
