National Desk, June 11, 2025: Amid a recent surge in COVID-19 cases globally and in Bangladesh, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has decided to resume COVID-19 testing in hospitals across the country. Additionally, the DGHS has issued an 11-point guideline to curb the spread of the virus. These directives were announced by DGHS Director General Professor Dr. Md. Abu Jafar during a press conference held at the DGHS headquarters on Wednesday (June 11).
- Avoid crowded places; wear a mask if attendance is unavoidable.
- Use masks to protect against respiratory diseases.
- Cover nose and mouth with an elbow or tissue during coughing or sneezing.
- Dispose of used tissues immediately in a covered bin.
- Wash hands frequently with soap and water or use hand sanitizer (for at least 20 seconds).
- Avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Stay at least 3 feet away from infected individuals and avoid contact.
- Stay home if experiencing fever, cough, or breathing difficulties until recovery.
- Ensure patients wear masks to cover their nose and mouth.
- Caregivers should wear masks as a precaution.
- Contact nearby hospitals, IEDCR (01401-196293), or the Health Helpline (16263) if needed.
