Heavy Rainfall with Thunderstorms Forecasted Across Bangladesh

 

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecasted rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms across various parts of the country, including the capital Dhaka, over the next few days. Some areas may experience moderate to heavy rainfall due to the influence of the monsoon.

According to the weather department, the monsoon axis extends from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and central Bangladesh to Assam, with a portion stretching to the northern Bay of Bengal. The monsoon is moderately active over Bangladesh and remains in a moderate state over the northern Bay of Bengal.
Weather Forecast from Tuesday (June 24) to Saturday:
  • Tuesday and Wednesday: Most areas of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, along with many places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barishal divisions, are likely to experience gusty winds with light to moderate rain or thunderstorms. Some areas in Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet may see moderate to heavy rainfall. Day and night temperatures may slightly decrease.
  • Thursday and Friday: Most areas of Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, and many places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, and Mymensingh divisions, are expected to witness gusty winds with light to moderate rain or thunderstorms. Moderate to heavy rainfall is possible in some areas. Temperatures may slightly decrease on Thursday but are likely to remain nearly unchanged on Friday.
  • Saturday: Heavy rainfall is likely in some parts of Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions. Light to moderate rain is expected to continue in other divisions. Day and night temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged.
The rainfall is expected to bring some relief from the heat, but heavy rainfall may lead to waterlogging in certain areas.
