Dhaka, June 25, 2025: The interim government of Bangladesh has released a comprehensive booklet detailing reforms undertaken or in progress across 48 sectors as of June 15, 2025. The announcement was made by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing on Wednesday.
According to the booklet, significant reforms have been initiated through ordinances and policy decisions in various sectors. In the power and energy sector, six reform measures have been highlighted, including the issuance of the Electricity and Fuel (Quick Supply Enhancement) (Repeal) Ordinance, 2024, aimed at streamlining energy policies and boosting supply efficiency.
The judiciary has seen four key reforms, notably the Supreme Court Judges Appointment Ordinance, 2025, which enables the Chief Justice to recommend suitable candidates for appointment as judges in the Appellate and High Court Divisions of the Supreme Court. Additionally, amendments to the International Crimes (Tribunal) Act through an ordinance were also mentioned, reinforcing judicial accountability and transparency.
In the realm of cybersecurity, the booklet notes the repeal of the Cyber Security Act, replaced by the Cyber Protection Ordinance, 2025, marking a significant shift toward safeguarding digital rights while addressing online threats. Other sectors, including electoral systems, public administration, and financial management, have also undergone reforms through various ordinances and decisions.
The booklet, described as a “living document,” will be updated as new initiatives are adopted and reforms progress. The interim government, led by Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, remains committed to institutional restructuring ahead of the anticipated national elections.
