Iran has executed three individuals accused of spying for Israel, Al Jazeera reported, citing local media on Wednesday, June 25. This brings the total number of executions of alleged spies in the country to six within the past 12 days.
According to Mizan news agency, the individuals were charged with collaborating with Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency and smuggling equipment used in an assassination. Following their conviction for cooperating with Israel, the death penalty was swiftly carried out in the interest of national security.
Additionally, 23 others have been newly charged with similar offenses, and their punishments may be executed soon, though no further details were provided by the news agency.
Sources indicate that Iran is not disclosing the identities of those executed for alleged ties to Mossad or for aiding Israel’s activities in the country. Meanwhile, a widespread crackdown is underway in Iran. According to Sky News, as of June 24, approximately 700 Israeli mercenaries have been arrested.
Military sources in Iran further revealed that 10,000 drones capable of carrying explosives have been seized over the past 12 days. Since the onset of Israel’s attacks, the Zionist government’s espionage network has been highly active in Iran, reportedly participating in covert assassinations.
