International Desk, June 23, 2025: On Monday night, explosions rocked Doha, the capital of Qatar, as Iran launched a missile attack on a US military base in the Gulf state.
Citing Western officials, Axios reported that Iran fired at least six missiles at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest US military facility in the Middle East, hosting around 10,000 American troops. Satellite imagery, however, suggests that the US had recently relocated most of its aircraft and equipment from the base.
The attack follows escalating tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States. Since Israel’s strikes on southern Lebanon on June 1, Iran has conducted multiple missile attacks on Israel. The US, in turn, targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities, further intensifying the situation.
Prior to the attack, the US Embassy in Qatar urged American citizens to seek shelter in safe locations. Qatar has since closed its airspace. Details on the extent of damage or casualties are yet to be confirmed.
