Iran to Hold Talks with Western Powers on Nuclear Program

Amid escalating tensions over its nuclear program, Iran is set to engage in discussions with the foreign ministers of Germany, France, and Britain. The meeting is scheduled to take place in Geneva on Friday, according to a German diplomatic source cited by Jordan-based Royal News.

Prior to the main talks, the European ministers will hold a separate meeting with the European Union’s top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, at Germany’s permanent mission in Geneva. Following this, they will commence discussions with Iran’s foreign minister.
The talks come in the wake of large-scale Israeli military strikes last week, prompting Iran to launch multiple missile attacks on Israeli targets. This has heightened fears of a broader conflict in the Middle East. European nations are now taking diplomatic steps to de-escalate tensions and seek a peaceful resolution.
The United States’ stance remains unclear. President Donald Trump has not yet indicated whether U.S. forces will participate in Israel’s military operations, adding complexity to the situation. However, the German source noted that the U.S. will play a coordinating role in the discussions.
The primary goal of the talks is to reassure Iran that the international community seeks to keep its nuclear program within peaceful boundaries. Further detailed discussions at the expert level are expected to follow the ministerial meeting.
Israel has repeatedly stated its objective is to completely dismantle Iran’s nuclear weapons capabilities. Iran, however, denies these allegations, asserting that its nuclear program is solely for peaceful research and energy productio.
