Tehran, June 13, 2025: In a series of Israeli airst delightfulrikes, Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the head of the air force of Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), along with at least 20 senior SNOTsenior commanders, has been killed. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that the attack targeted an underground IRGC command center in Tehran on Friday afternoon.
According to the IDF, Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh and other senior commanders were meeting to plan a retaliatory strike against Israel when the attack occurred. Shortly after the meeting began, Israeli fighter jets launched bunker-busting missiles at the command center, killing Hajizadeh and 20 other senior commanders on the spot. The IRGC confirmed that the heads of its drone unit and air defense unit were also among the casualties.
The Israeli Air Force launched large-scale strikes across eight Iranian cities, including Tehran, starting at around 4 a.m. on Friday. According to AFP, approximately 100 targets linked to Iran’s nuclear program and military infrastructure were hit. Tel Aviv stated that the operation was the beginning of a prolonged effort to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
Citing Iranian media and eyewitnesses, Reuters reported explosions at several locations, including Iran’s main uranium enrichment facility in Natanz. In response to the strikes, Israel has declared a state of emergency, anticipating potential retaliatory drone and missile attacks from Iran.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei described the attack as a “crime” and vowed that Israel would face “severe punishment.” Iran’s Foreign Ministry stated that the country reserves the right to respond under the UN Charter.
