Launch Operations Suspended on Daulatdia-Paturia Route

Rajbari, June 25, 2025: Launch services on the Daulatdia-Paturia waterway have been suspended due to strong currents in the Padma and Jamuna rivers and adverse weather conditions. The suspension came into effect from 4 p.m. on Wednesday (June 25), as announced by the authorities to avoid accidents.
Mohammad Shimul, Traffic Supervisor at the Daulatdia Launch Terminal under the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), stated that the decision to halt launch operations was made following instructions from higher authorities due to the turbulent river conditions and high currents. Launch services will resume once the weather normalizes.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Salauddin, Assistant General Manager of the Daulatdia branch of BIWTC, confirmed that while launch services are suspended, ferry operations on the Daulatdia-Paturia route continue as normal. There is no vehicle backlog at the Daulatdia end, and currently, 12 small and large ferries are facilitating the transportation of passengers and vehicles across the route.
