Massive Gathering at Suhrawardy Udyan: Islamic Andolan Bangladesh Holds Rally with Three Demands

A massive rally organized by Islamic Andolan Bangladesh was held at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on Saturday, June 28, with thousands of activists and supporters in attendance, pressing for three key demands. Delegations from Jamaat-e-Islami and the National Citizen Party (NCP) also joined the event. The main proceedings of the rally began at 2:00 PM, presided over by the Amir of Islamic Andolan Bangladesh and Charmonai Pir, Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim.

A five-member delegation led by Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General, Professor Mia Golam Parwar, and a three-member delegation led by NCP’s Member Secretary, Akhtar Hossain, participated in the rally. Earlier in the day, the event commenced at 10:00 AM with a recitation of the Quran. Leaders from various districts and metropolitan areas delivered speeches during the initial session. Since morning, activists from different parts of the country joined the rally in small processions, chanting slogans such as “Naray-e-Takbir, Allahu Akbar,” resonating across the venue.

The three primary demands of Islamic Andolan Bangladesh include reform, justice, and elections based on proportional representation (PR system). Party leaders claimed that the rally would see a turnout of 10 lakh people. To achieve this, extensive publicity and public outreach campaigns were conducted across various districts, sub-districts, and metropolitan areas. Alongside Islamic Andolan, top leaders from other political parties are expected to address the gathering, turning the event into a grand assembly, according to the organizers.
