Myanmar Nationals Arrested with 120,000 Yaba Pills in Teknaf’s Naf River

Teknaf, June 19, 2025: The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) apprehended two Myanmar nationals with 120,000 yaba pills while they were attempting to smuggle drugs under the guise of fishermen in the Naf River, Teknaf. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohammad Zubayer and Nurul Amin.

According to BGB sources, acting on a tip-off, the Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) deployed special patrols along the Naf River and its banks on the night of Wednesday, June 18. When a boat’s movements raised suspicion, BGB personnel chased and intercepted it within Bangladesh’s territory. The two Myanmar nationals were detained, and a search of the boat revealed 120,000 yaba pills hidden inside its floorboards.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against the detainees for drug smuggling, and they have been handed over to the Teknaf Police Station. The BGB stated that such operations will continue to curb drug trafficking across the border.
