Dhaka, June 6, 2025: The national election is set to take place in the first half of April 2026, announced Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus. He stated that the Election Commission will provide a detailed roadmap for the election in due time.
Dr. Yunus emphasized, “We want an election that will bring satisfaction and peace to the souls of the martyrs of the uprising. Our goal is to ensure maximum participation of voters, candidates, and political parties. This election will be remembered as the freest, fairest, and most impartial in the nation’s history.”
He further noted that, after one and a half decades, a truly representative parliament will be formed in the country. A large number of young voters will have the opportunity to cast their votes for the first time in this election. Dr. Yunus reaffirmed the government’s commitment to taking all necessary steps to achieve these objectives.
The Election Commission is expected to release a detailed plan for the election soon.
