Sitare Zameen Par’ Defies Controversy, Crosses ₹100 Crore Mark at Box Office

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan’s latest film, Sitare Zameen Par, has silenced its pre-release controversies and early box office struggles to achieve a remarkable feat. Within just four days of its release, the sports drama has entered the ₹100 crore club, proving that quality cinema still commands a strong audience.

Released on June 21, the film, made on a budget of ₹80 crore, had a slow start, initially underperforming compared to Aamir’s previous venture, Laal Singh Chaddha. However, it quickly gained momentum, crossing the ₹100 crore milestone by its fourth day. According to the latest reports from Indian media, Sitare Zameen Par has amassed a total of ₹110 crore at the box office.
Beyond its commercial success, the film has garnered widespread acclaim from both audiences and critics. Renowned lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar praised the movie on his X handle, writing, “I’m thrilled with the success of Sitare Zameen Par on its second day. Who says the appeal of good cinema has diminished? Congratulations to Aamir Khan and his team.”
A sequel to the 2007 blockbuster Taare Zameen Par, Sitare Zameen Par features Aamir Khan in the role of a basketball coach. The film also stars Genelia D’Souza alongside Aamir, adding to its star power.
