Storm and Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Seven Districts in Bangladesh

 


The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecasted storms with wind speeds of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour, accompanied by rain or thunderstorms, in seven districts of the country. The warning, issued for inland river ports, is effective from 5 AM to 1 PM on Monday, June 23.
According to a forecast signed by meteorologist Dr. Md. Omar Faruk, regions including Rangpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, and Sylhet may experience temporary gusty winds from the south/southeast, along with rain or thunderstorms. River ports in these areas have been instructed to display the No. 1 cautionary signal.
In a separate 120-hour weather forecast, the BMD stated that from 9 AM Monday for the next 24 hours, many areas in Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions, and some areas in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions, may experience gusty winds, lightning, and light to moderate rain or thunderstorms. Additionally, moderate to heavy rainfall is likely in parts of Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions. Day and night temperatures across the country are expected to remain largely unchanged during this period.
