In her post, Swara wrote, “Not October, it began in 1948.” Through this, she aimed to highlight that the ongoing conflict in Palestine did not start recently but traces back to 1948. Additionally, she shared details of a solidarity gathering organized by various political parties and organizations in support of Gaza, scheduled for June 18 at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan. Following these posts, she faced significant backlash online.
Some netizens accused Swara of remaining silent on domestic issues, particularly the Pehelgaon attack in India. One user commented, “You didn’t show such sympathy after the Pehelgaon incident, did you?” Another user sarcastically remarked, “Mumbai is not Palestine. If you want to stand with Palestine, go there.”
This is not the first time Swara has faced criticism for expressing her views on social and political issues. However, some netizens have also come out in her support, arguing that standing with Palestine is a humanitarian responsibility.
