Ari Das was the son of Kartik Das and Sharmi Das, residents of Feni district. The family had come to Lakshmipur to spend the Eid holidays at Ari’s maternal grandparents’ house. According to a neighbor, Swarna Das, while the infant was being fed khichuri at noon, the food accidentally lodged in his windpipe due to carelessness. He was rushed to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital, where the attending doctor declared him dead. The family is devastated and speechless following the tragic loss.
Dr. Arup Pal, the Residential Medical Officer (RMO) at Sadar Hospital, stated that the infant’s death was caused by food getting stuck in his windpipe during feeding. He urged parents to exercise utmost caution while feeding infants, emphasizing the need to feed them patiently without haste.
