June 13, 2025, International Desk: U.S. President Donald Trump has called on Iran to reach an agreement over its nuclear program, warning that failure to do so could lead to further destruction and loss of life due to ongoing Israeli strikes.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social on Friday, Trump stated, “Iran has already seen much death and destruction. The next strikes will be even more severe. Come to an agreement quickly—no more destruction or deaths.”
Israel launched large-scale airstrikes on eight Iranian cities, including Tehran, early Friday. According to AFP, the attacks targeted at least 100 sites linked to Iran’s nuclear program and military facilities. Among the casualties were Iran’s armed forces chief Mohammad Bagheri, Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Hossein Salami, and nuclear scientists Fereydoun Abbasi and Mohammad Tehranchi.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the strikes as part of “Operation Rising Lion,” aimed at preventing Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Iran’s Natanz uranium enrichment facility and other sites reported explosions. Israel has declared a state of emergency, anticipating potential retaliatory drone and missile attacks.
In an earlier statement to Fox News, Trump emphasized that Iran must never possess nuclear weapons and expressed hope for renewed diplomatic talks.
