Two members of the Detective Branch (DB) police were shot and injured by drug traffickers during an anti-drug raid in Dhaka. The incident occurred around 12:45 AM on Wednesday (June 18) near the Central Police Hospital. The injured officers are ASI Atik Hasan and Constable Sujan from Lalbag DB police.
According to police sources, a DB team was conducting the raid based on confidential information. When they attempted to intercept a vehicle used by drug traffickers, the suspects opened fire on the police with weapons in their possession, injuring two officers.
The injured officers were immediately rescued and rushed to Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital. SI Masud Alam from the hospital’s police camp reported that ASI Atik Hasan’s condition is critical, and he is under close medical observation.
Following the incident, police detained three suspects and seized a private car. Legal proceedings against the suspects are underway, according to police.
