31 Dead, 165 Injured in Bangladesh Air Force Plane Crash: ISPR

Dhaka, July 22, 2025 – A Bangladesh Air Force training fighter jet crashed into a building of Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka, on Monday, resulting in 31 deaths and 165 injuries, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The deceased include 10 at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, 1 at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, 16 at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), 2 at Lubna General Hospital, 1 at Uttara Adhunik Hospital, and 1 at United Hospital.

Among the 165 injured, 8 are being treated at Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Hospital, 46 at the Burn Institute, 3 at Dhaka Medical College, 28 at CMH, 13 at Lubna General Hospital, 60 at Uttara Adhunik Hospital, 1 at Uttara Crescent Hospital, 1 at Shaheed Monsur Ali Medical College Hospital, 2 at United Hospital, and 3 at Kurmitola General Hospital. The incident occurred when a Chinese-made FT-7 BGI fighter jet, used for training, crashed into a two-story building on the school premises due to mechanical failure. The ISPR reported that the jet took off from the Air Force’s A K Khandaker base in Kurmitola at 1:06 PM and crashed at 1:18 PM. The Fire Service and Civil Defence were informed immediately. The crash sparked a fire in the school building, leading to chaos as cries of injured children and frantic parents filled the area. Among the victims was Masuka Begum, a teacher at Milestone School and College, whose body was taken by relatives from the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute.
