Bangladesh and USA to Conduct Three Joint Military Exercises This Year

Dhaka, July 20, 2025: Bangladesh and the United States will conduct three joint military exercises in the upcoming summer season, as announced in a press release by the U.S. Embassy on Sunday, July 20. These initiatives, part of the long-standing cooperation between the armed forces of both nations, aim to strengthen bilateral security and promote regional stability. Additionally, a new military capability transfer program will be introduced.

**Tiger Lightning Exercise:** For the fourth time, the Bangladesh Army and the U.S. Army Pacific will conduct the "Tiger Lightning" exercise. This drill will focus on tactical training, including counter-terrorism operations, peacekeeping, jungle warfare, medical evacuation, and improvised explosive device (IED) prevention.

**Tiger Shark 2025:** Initiated in 2009 as part of the "Flash Bengal" series, the "Tiger Shark" joint exercise will involve special forces from both nations. The training will cover patrol boat operations, small arms proficiency, and special operations tactics, utilizing equipment supplied by the United States. **Pacific Angel Exercise:** This exercise, being held in Bangladesh for the fourth time, will highlight the role of the C-130 aircraft fleet in disaster response. It will also enhance capabilities in search and rescue (SAR) and aeromedical operations, bolstering humanitarian assistance efforts. **RQ-21 Program Launch:** The United States, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Army and Navy, will establish a new unmanned aerial system (UAS) capability. A specialized regiment will be formed to operate the RQ-21 Blackjack system, which will enhance Bangladesh’s maritime surveillance, border security, and peacekeeping operations.
These joint exercises and technological support are expected to deepen defense cooperation between the two nations, paving the way for enhanced security and humanitarian assistance capabilities
