Foreign Liquor Worth 40 Lakh Taka Seized in Patenga

The Bangladesh Coast Guard seized illegal foreign liquor worth approximately 40 lakh taka in Patenga, Chattogram.

Lieutenant Commander Siam-Ul-Haq, the Coast Guard's media officer, confirmed the operation on Sunday (July 20) afternoon.

He stated that based on confidential information, the Coast Guard vessel *Apurba Bangla* conducted a special operation on Saturday night at around 10:30 PM in the Patenga Sea Beach area under Patenga Police Station, Chattogram. During the operation, authorities recovered 60 bottles of VAT 69 whisky, 48 bottles of Ballantine’s whisky, and 36 bottles of Red Label whisky, valued at approximately 40 lakh taka, in an abandoned state. The smugglers managed to flee upon sensing the Coast Guard's presence, and no arrests were made. The seized foreign liquor is currently undergoing legal processing for further action. He further added that the Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to maintain law and order in the country.
