On the third and final day of the second round of trade talks between Bangladesh and the United States, representatives from both countries reached agreements on several issues, though some matters remain unresolved. Both sides have decided to continue inter-ministerial discussions to address these pending issues.
A statement released by the Chief Adviser’s press wing on Saturday (July 12) morning confirmed this development. According to the statement, representatives from both nations will reconvene for further discussions, which may take place both virtually and in person. The dates for these meetings are expected to be finalized soon. The trade adviser, secretary, and additional secretary are scheduled to return to Bangladesh on Sunday (July 12). They will travel again if necessary. Following the three-day discussions, Trade Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin and National Security Adviser Dr. Khalilur Rahman expressed optimism about reaching a positive outcome within the stipulated timeframe. The Bangladesh delegation was led by Trade Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin, with National Security Adviser Dr. Khalilur Rahman and the Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Foyez Taiyeb participating virtually from Dhaka.
