Bangladeshi Model Arrested in Kolkata, Multiple Fake Documents Recovered

Shanta Pal, a Bangladeshi model and actress, has been arrested in Kolkata’s Jadavpur area. The Park Street Police recently detained her from a flat in Bikramgarh. Authorities recovered several crucial documents, including an Indian voter ID card and Aadhaar card, in her possession.

Kolkata Police’s Detective Chief, Rupesh Kumar, stated that an investigation into allegations of document forgery against Shanta is underway. The police are examining how she obtained these Indian citizenship documents and whether they are genuine or counterfeit.

According to police sources, Shanta had been residing as a tenant in a flat in Bijoygarh, Jadavpur, since 2023. However, she used different addresses in various instances. Recently, while filing a fraud complaint at Thakurpukur Police Station, she provided a different address, which raised suspicions among the authorities. Following a search of her flat, the police recovered multiple Bangladeshi passports, a secondary school examination admit card, and an airline ID card. They are now investigating the basis on which she acquired the Indian Aadhaar and voter ID cards. The police have contacted the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and the Election Commission for further verification. Additionally, documents have been sent to the Food Department to inquire about her ration card.

Shanta began her career in modeling and acting, working for two prominent Bangladeshi organizations. She participated in several beauty contests and made her big-screen debut with the film *Bachelor in Trip*. She is also reported to have worked in the Tamil film *Yeralava*, directed by Vishwanath Rao.
