Brutal Murder in Mitford: Accused Titon Gazi Remanded for 5 Days


A Dhaka court has granted a 5-day remand for Md. Titon Gazi, arrested in connection with the brutal murder of Sohag, a scrap goods trader, in front of Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital in Old Dhaka.

On Saturday (July 12), Titon Gazi was produced before the court. The investigating officer of the case, Inspector Md. Nasir Uddin of Kotwali Police Station, sought a 7-day remand for a thorough investigation. After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Hasib Ullah Piyas granted a 5-day remand.

According to police sources, Titon Gazi was arrested around 1:00 AM on Friday from the Jindabahar area under Kotwali Police Station. Police sources further revealed that five individuals have been arrested so far in connection with the murder. Among them, the prime suspect, Mahmudul Hasan Mohin (41), and Tarek Rahman Robin (22) have been remanded for varying periods in two separate cases filed under the murder and arms acts at Kotwali Police Station.
On July 9, 39-year-old scrap trader Lal Chand, alias Sohag, was brutally killed by being hacked, beaten, and crushed with stones near the gate of Sir Salimullah Medical College and Hospital. The victim’s elder sister filed a murder case at Kotwali Police Station as the plaintiff. Additionally, the police filed a separate case under the Arms Act.
