Child Asked for Food, Then Raped and Killed in Hotel: PBI

Dhaka, July 19: A 12-year-old boy was lured with the promise of food, taken to a hotel, raped, and subsequently killed by two youths. The incident occurred in the Yatrabari area of the capital on Sunday, July 13. The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) revealed these details based on information obtained from interrogating one of the accused.

According to PBI, the arrested individual, Al-Amin (34), was apprehended in Tongi, Gazipur, on Friday. On Saturday, he confessed to the rape and murder in a court statement. Efforts are underway to arrest the other accused, identified as Saddam.

Based on information from Al-Amin’s interrogation, PBI stated that on July 12, Al-Amin and Saddam met the 12-year-old boy at Kamalapur Railway Station in Dhaka. The boy asked them about the schedule of trains to Barisal. They informed him that no trains go to Barisal. Later, the boy mentioned he had not eaten for a day. The duo bought food and shoes for the boy. In the evening, they took him to a residential hotel in Yatrabari. That night, the two raped the boy, causing him to fall ill. When they attempted to rape him again in the morning and the boy resisted, they became enraged and beat him to death with a belt. PBI Additional Superintendent of Police Abir Hossain told that on Monday, hotel staff discovered the boy’s body while cleaning the room. Yatrabari police recovered the body and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue. The body remains in the morgue after the autopsy, and efforts are ongoing to identify the boy. The police official added that Jatrabari police filed a murder case against unidentified persons on the same day. Subsequently, PBI conducted a shadow investigation and identified the two accused.
