In an ongoing crackdown on smuggling prohibited items, Kuwait’s General Administration of Customs seized a significant quantity of chewing tobacco (zarda) at Kuwait International Airport’s Terminal-4. Four Bangladeshi passengers were detained in two separate operations, according to Arab Times.

On Sunday, customs officials confiscated 40 kilograms of chewing tobacco from the luggage of one Bangladeshi passenger. The following day, an additional 159 kilograms of the same prohibited substance was seized from three other Bangladeshi passengers. In total, 199 kilograms of banned tobacco were confiscated. Legal action has been initiated against the detained individuals. The customs department prepared a formal seizure report and handed the suspects over to the relevant Kuwaiti authorities. A joint investigation with the Ministry of Interior is underway to identify other individuals linked to the case. Kuwait’s Customs Department emphasized its commitment to preventing the entry of prohibited items with utmost vigilance and dedication. The department also commended the alertness and professionalism of customs officers stationed at entry points. Travelers have been urged to comply with Kuwait’s customs regulations.
