Four Teenagers Missing Together in Ramu, Families Suspect Human Trafficking

Four teenagers from Mandolpara in Fatekharkul Union, Ramu, Cox’s Bazar, who are students of schools and madrasas, have been missing for two days. The teenagers, who are related to each other, left their homes between 10:00 AM and 1:30 PM on Friday and have not returned. As of 11:00 AM on Sunday, their whereabouts remain unknown.

Initially, family members assumed the teenagers might have gone somewhere together for an outing. However, when they did not return by midnight on Friday, relatives searched for them at the homes of other family members, but to no avail. The families now suspect that the teenagers may have fallen victim to human traffickers or an abduction ring.

The missing teenagers are aged 14, 15 (two individuals), and 16 years old. On Saturday, the families filed four separate missing person reports at Ramu Police Station. The reports mention that the teenagers went missing from Mandolpara between 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM on Friday, but no specific reason for their disappearance was provided. Ramu Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge, Md. Taiyabur Rahman, told Prothom Alo at around 10:45 AM on Sunday that the teenagers have not yet been located. However, a tip received in the early hours of Sunday indicated that the teenagers might be at a house in Banglabazar, Jhilongja Union, Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila. Police are actively working to rescue them. An uncle of one of the missing teenagers told that while they initially thought the group might have gone on an outing, their prolonged absence has raised suspicions. Despite searching at relatives’ homes in Cox’s Bazar and Chattogram over the past two days, no trace of them has been found. The families fear the teenagers may have been lured or fallen into the hands of human traffickers.
