The revised schedule for the postponed Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations has been released, with new dates announced for all deferred exams.
On Wednesday, July 23, 2025, a notification signed by Professor SM Kamal Uddin Haider, Convener of the Inter-Education Board Examination Control Committee and Controller of Examinations at the Dhaka Education Board, confirmed the details. The exams originally scheduled for July 22 will now be held on August 17, and those set for July 24 will take place on August 19. Additionally, exams postponed on July 10 under the Cumilla Education Board due to floods will be conducted on August 12. In Gopalganj, the HSC exam deferred on July 17 due to clashes will be held on August 14.
The notification also noted that due to the postponement of written exams, practical exams have been rescheduled. Practical exams will commence on August 21 and continue until September 3, 2025.
Earlier, Education Adviser Choudhury Rafiqul Abrar (CR Abrar) stated that the dates for the postponed exams were yet to be finalized but would be conducted on the same day, with the July 22 exams in the morning and the July 24 exams in the afternoon. He added that a notification would specify the exact dates.
On Monday night, July 21, 2025, Mahfuz Alam, Adviser to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, posted on Facebook that a decision to postpone the HSC exams was made following a meeting with the Education Adviser. This was confirmed around 3:30 AM by Md. Mamun Ar Rashid, Public Relations Officer of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, who stated that Tuesday’s HSC and equivalent exams were postponed due to the casualties caused by an air crash at Milestone School. The Education Adviser confirmed this to the Information Adviser.
On Monday afternoon, a Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet crashed at the Milestone School and College campus in Uttara’s Diabari, Dhaka. As per the latest reports, 31 people were killed, and over 100 were injured. A national day of mourning was declared for Tuesday, July 22. Initially, the Education Ministry decided to proceed with the HSC and equivalent exams despite the mourning, which triggered widespread criticism on social media. The exams were postponed late that night, and all exams under the National University scheduled for Tuesday morning were also deferred.
