Cox’s Bazar, July 19, 2025: The National Citizen Party (NCP) launched its “Build the Nation July March” program in Cox’s Bazar on Saturday. The march began around noon from the city’s central bus terminal area. Leading the program were NCP’s convener Nahid Islam, chief coordinator Nasiruddin Patowari, southern region chief organizer Hasnat Abdullah, northern region chief organizer Sarjis Alam, and senior joint member secretary Tasnim Jara.
After covering a five-kilometer route through the city’s main roads, NCP leaders reached the Shaheed Doulat Maidan at Laldighi Par’s Public Library around 1:30 PM, where they are scheduled to address a public gathering.
Since morning, NCP leaders and activists from various upazilas, including Teknaf, Ukhiya, and Ramu, gathered at the central bus terminal. They carried banners and festoons and raised slogans such as “Leave Bangladesh if you only talk,” “Is Bangladesh your ancestral property?” “People’s power, not ruling power,” and “My brother’s blood will not go in vain.”
To welcome NCP leaders, multiple arches and banners were set up across the city. NCP’s central joint member secretary SM Suja Uddin stated that the public gathering could see an attendance of 10,000 to 15,000 people. Leaders, activists, and supporters from Teknaf, Ukhiya, Ramu, Chakaria, Eidgaon, Pekua, Maheshkhali, and Kutubdia upazilas are joining the event.
District police spokesperson and Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Md. Jasim Uddin Chowdhury said the march is proceeding peacefully. To prevent a situation like the one in Gopalganj, police, RAB, BGB, and Bangladesh Army personnel are deployed in the field.
