Dhaka, July 27, 2025: Adviser to the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Adilur Rahman Khan, emphasized that Bangladesh must never again fall under the grip of fear and oppressive rule. He stressed the need for unity to ensure justice following the collapse of a repressive regime.
Speaking at the first 'International July Revolution 2024' conference held at the Senate Bhavan of Dhaka University on Sunday, July 27, 2025, Khan said, "The fascist Awami League’s 15-year repressive rule turned the state into a weapon against its people. Enforced disappearances became routine. Thousands of political dissenters, student leaders, and journalists were abducted, tortured, or permanently silenced. Many families still do not know whether their loved ones are alive or buried in unmarked graves."
The conference began with speeches by the parents of martyred student Zahiduzzaman Tanvin, who demanded swift justice for the July killings and punishment for the perpetrators. The event saw participation from student leaders, families of martyrs, academics from various universities, international guests, diplomats, and human rights activists.
