Press Secretary Accuses Golam Maula Roni of Spreading False Information on TV Talk Shows

Shafiqul Alam, the Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser of the interim government, has accused former parliamentarian and politician Golam Maula Roni of spreading misinformation and lies through television talk shows and YouTube videos. The allegations were made in a post on his verified Facebook page on Friday, July 4.

In the post, Shafiqul Alam stated that Golam Maula Roni has become a primary source of falsehoods and misinformation in TV talk shows and YouTube content. He specifically pointed out a recent claim made by Roni on a talk show aired on Somoy TV, where Roni allegedly stated that Noor Hossain, a legendary martyr of the anti-dictatorship movement, was killed by the public.

Highlighting the historical facts, Shafiqul Alam wrote, “We all know that on November 10, 1987, Noor Hossain was shot dead by General Ershad’s security forces. Is Roni now taking on the responsibility of erasing Ershad’s crimes from history?”
The Press Secretary further criticized the talk show host for failing to challenge Roni’s claims, stating, “It is unfortunate that the host of the Somoy TV program did not protest this blatant lie. When you provide a platform to liars and misleading voices, you become complicit in their offense.”
