Sylhet Schoolboy Sumel Murder: 7 Sentenced to Death, 15 to Life Imprisonment

Sylhet, July 30, 2025 – In a significant verdict, a Sylhet court has sentenced seven individuals to death and 15 others to life imprisonment for the murder of schoolboy Sumel Miah (18) in Bishwanath, Sylhet, in 2021.

The judgment was delivered on Wednesday by the Sylhet Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court.

In a separate case in Narayanganj, a youth has been sentenced to death for a double murder.
