Dhaka, July 28, 2025: Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, announced that training for 150,000 police personnel on election-related duties will commence in September. He made this statement during a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Monday.
Alam stated that, in preparation for the national election, the Chief Adviser has directed increased coordination between the police and the army. "Starting from September, 150,000 police personnel will receive training on election-related matters. Additionally, 60,000 army personnel will be deployed for the election," he said.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) welcomed the move, stating that the government should formally inform the Election Commission about the election date through proper procedures. They expressed hope that the election would be held by February, as promised. On the other hand, Jamaat-e-Islami claimed that the Chief Adviser did not mention anything about announcing the election date during the meeting.
