In Kushtia Sadar, two youths have been accused of raping a minor girl. The incident occurred on Sunday (July 20) around 10 a.m. in an sugarcane field near Arman Gate in the Jhalupara Jagati area of Kushtia Sadar Upazila.
The victim’s brother filed a rape case against the two youths, identified as Akash and Hridoy, at the Kushtia Model Police Station on Sunday afternoon. The police have arrested both individuals.
The arrested individuals are Akash Ahmed (20), son of Enamul Mridha from Teghoria Majhpara in Kushtia’s Mirpur Upazila, and Hridoy Hossain (26), son of Matiar Rahman from the same area. During preliminary interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime. The police have arrested them after finding initial evidence of the incident.
According to the case statement, the victim’s brother stated that his minor sister was acquainted with the accused, Akash and Hridoy. On Sunday morning around 9 a.m., the accused arrived at their house on a motorcycle. During their meeting, the victim expressed a desire to go for a ride with them. While riding around, around 9:45 a.m., the accused took her to an sugarcane field owned by Hashem Sheikh near Karibul’s tea stall, adjacent to Arman Gate in Jhalupara Jagati under Kushtia Sadar Police Station. There, Akash forcibly raped the minor girl, followed by Hridoy, who also raped her.
Confirming the incident, Kushtia Model Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mosharraf Hossain said a case has been filed against the two youths for raping the girl. The accused have been arrested, and the victim has undergone a medical examination. Legal action will be taken against the accused.
