UNOs Vehicle Attacked and Vandalized in Gopalganj Amid NCP’s July March

The official vehicle of the Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) was attacked and vandalized during a march organized by the National Citizen’s Party (NCP) as part of their month-long July program. Allegations point to supporters of the banned organizations, Awami League and Chhatra League, as the perpetrators of the attack.

The incident occurred around 11 AM on Wednesday, July 16. Gopalganj Sadar UNO, M Rakibul Hasan, confirmed the attack and vandalism of his vehicle. He stated that the NCP had planned a march at the municipal park in Gopalganj town, with central leaders expected to attend. According to Hasan, supporters of the banned Awami League and Chhatra League attacked and vandalized his vehicle in the Gandhiashur area of Sadar Upazila to disrupt the NCP’s march.

Earlier that morning, in a separate incident in the Ulpur area of Sadar Upazila, Chhatra League activists reportedly attacked police personnel, vandalized a police vehicle, and set it on fire. Gopalganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC), Mir Md. Sajedur Rahman, confirmed the incidents, stating that the attacks and vandalism occurred in connection with the NCP’s July march program.
