In a joint operation by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), a cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the remote hills of Hnila in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar. The haul included one Uzi firearm, two single-barrel shotguns, four grenades, and ten rounds of ammunition. The operation took place on Tuesday evening, but no arrests were made during the raid.
According to BGB, acting on intelligence about four robbers setting up a hideout in the hills, two special patrol teams from BGB and RAB conducted the operation. Sensing the presence of the joint forces, the robbers fled the scene. A subsequent search of the hideout led to the recovery of the weapons and ammunition.
When contacted, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Jasim Uddin, commander of Ukhia-64 BGB, told that the recovered firearms and ammunition have been handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station as evidence. Necessary measures have also been taken to safely dispose of the grenades.
