Bangladesh-Malaysia Exchange Five MoUs and Three Notes

On the second day of the visit to Malaysia, Bangladesh and Malaysia exchanged five memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and three notes to enhance cooperation in various sectors.

These exchanges took place on Tuesday (August 12) morning at Putrajaya in Kuala Lumpur, in the presence of Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

#### Meeting Between Chief Adviser and Malaysian Prime Minister

Malaysia accorded a red carpet welcome to Dr. Yunus.

The first note pertains to cooperation in higher education, exchanged between Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Utama Haji Mohammad bin Haji Hasan and Bangladesh's Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain. The second note focuses on training for diplomats, exchanged by the same two officials.

The third note is on cooperation in the Halal ecosystem, exchanged between Malaysian Prime Minister's Office Deputy Minister Senator Dr. Zulkifli bin Hasan and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud bin Harun.

The five MoUs include:

1. **Defense Cooperation**: Signed by Malaysian Defense Minister Dato' Seri Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin and Bangladesh's Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain.

2. **Cooperation in LNG Supply, Infrastructure, Petroleum Products, and Related Infrastructure**: Signed by Malaysian Acting Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah bin Azizan and Bangladesh's Energy Adviser Md. Fouzul Kabir Khan.

3. **Cooperation Between Strategic and International Research Institutions**: This MoU is between the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia and the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS). It was signed by ISIS Malaysia Chairman Datuk Professor Dr. Mohd Faiz Abdullah and Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysia Md. Shameem Ahsan.

4. **Technology Cooperation**: Between MIMOS Services Sdn Bhd (MSSB) and the Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI). Signed by MSSB CEO Mohammad Fauzi Yahaya and BMCCI's Shabbir Ahmed Khan.

5. **Cooperation in Trade and Industry Sectors**: Between the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM) and the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI). Signed by NCCIM President Dato' Seri N. Gobalakrishnan and FBCCI Administrator Md. Hafizur Rahman.

Earlier, at 9 AM, the Chief Adviser arrived at the Prime Minister's Office in Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, where he was given a red carpet reception. Dr. Yunus was also honored with a Guard of Honour.

Following the Guard of Honour, Anwar Ibrahim introduced his cabinet members to Dr. Muhammad Yunus. Subsequently, Dr. Yunus held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
